Learning Support
- "Fun and Games” for 5 and 6 years olds requiring co-ordination development
- “Leap Ahead” reading program between 8.30am and 9.30am each morning for students requiring extra reading practice
- Keyboard – Reception to Year 7
- Guitar – Year 3 to Year 7
Through assessments and reviews students may be identified as needing further support in areas including:
Music
Keyboard/Guitar
An external music specialist provides individual and small group instruction during school time.
Choir
Choir is offered to students in years 5, 6 and 7 in terms 1-3 of each year. Students are taught a program of songs from a variety genres. Performances both in school and out of school are held during the year to enable the choir to showcase their skills. The final performance at the Festival Theatre is held in September and is an exciting and colourful conclusion to the choir activities. The choir also helps to lead Remembrance Day Celebrations.
German
Children have the opportunity to learn German as a Language Other Than English (LOTE). They will have two lessons per week (approx 90 Mins).
We have a German Curriculum Framework which is used for teaching German. The topics are strongly linked to other parts of the School Curriculum. The programme ensures the learning of the language, learning about the culture, the country and the people.
Sport
We have a strong Physical Education (PE) programme which, in addition to daily fitness activities and regular PE lessons includes:
- Participation in the “Bluearth Discovery” programme
- Tri Skills sports and fitness coaching Sports clinics
- Active After Schools programme
- Dancesport
- Swimming and aquatics (years 6,7)
A sports day is held annually. S.A.P.S.A.S.A activities also offer a number of opportunities
Throughout the year the school utilises specialist programs such as Footsteps dance, CSIRO Lab on Legs, Life Education Van, Family Life Growth and Development, as well as various sporting clinics.
