History

Banksia Park Primary School and Banksia Park Junior Primary School were both opened in the mid 1960’s. Both school continued to grow, reaching peak enrolments in the 1970’s. At this time there were many transportable buildings on site.

In late 1994 Banksia Park Primary and Banksia Park Junior Primary Schools amalgamated to become Banksia Park School Reception – Year 7. Associated with this was some redevelopment. A bridge/walkway was constructed to link the two buildings, a new staff room and a library/resource centre were created. Other facilities developments included earthquake stiffening, installation of data cabling throughout the school, additional air conditioning, electrical, security, heating and telephone upgrade.

The removal of the transportable buildings have left us with spacious grounds that
the children can enjoy. We have 3.7 hectares of land at Banksia Park School. The
grounds are well established and we are fortunate to have additional support from
the community and parents in keeping them maintained to a good standard.

In 2010 the old hall was demolished and a new outdoor learning area was created. Through the Building Education Revolution grant we built a new gymnasium which was completed in 2010. We have established a community garden on the grounds for the children and community to enjoy.
